Effect of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Headache in Pediatric Migraine Patients at a Single Tertiary Center

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on children and adolescents with migraine. Methods: This longitudinal cohort enrolled migraine from Department Pediatric Neurology at our hospital January 2017 June 2021. Self-reported data individual headache diaries were used. patients questioned about their frequency intensity, stress, physical activity, changes in mood sleep, school home lives during COVID-19 pandemic. Migraine Disability Assessment (Ped-MIDAS) scoring system applied assess headache-related disability. Results: In total, 325 pediatric (mean age 12.8±5.6 years, 62.5% female) included study. average monthly headaches 2.17±1.32 4.62±3.29 before (P<0.001), respectively. Ped-MIDAS score obtained for 207 both pandemic, total slightly increased 13.8 14.7 points (P=0.295). Sixty (18.5%) showed significantly worsening headaches.
